Grosvenor Shopping Northampton launches search for local heroes

Shopping centre to celebrate people in the community

It’s fair to say that 2020 continues to be a challenging year but Grosvenor Shopping Northampton has launched a feel-good campaign to unearth untold stories of everyday heroism and help keep spirits lifted during the pandemic.

Grosvenor Shopping Northampton ‘Local Legend’ competition is offering the public an opportunity to nominate someone in the area who is truly remarkable, inspiring or selfless.

Ever wanted to do something special for a family member who dedicates their free time to fundraising activities? Or the friend who is working tirelessly to set up an all-new community group? Perhaps a colleague who goes above and beyond for others is deserving of some additional recognition?

Whatever the story may be, the shopping centre is hoping to shine the spotlight on the fantastic people of Northampton, as well as offering a £150 gift card to one lucky winner to spend at a Grosvenor store of their choice.

James Roberts, centre manager at Grosvenor Shopping Northampton, hopes the competition will be a great reminder of the town’s strong community spirit. “We have launched our ‘Local Legend’ campaign in a bid to say ‘thank you’ to the many unsung heroes among us and to reinforce the message that Northampton is full of exceptional individuals.

“We are in the midst of unsettling times and wanted to create something positive that everyone could be a part of. We are looking forward to learning of stories about wonderful, local people enhancing the lives of others.

James continued: “I’m sure we all have someone who is a hero in our eyes and there’s no time like the present than to put them forward to be celebrated.”

The shopping centre is inviting people to submit their nominations here: https://www.grosvenorshoppingnorthampton.co.uk/local-legend-competition/ from Tuesday 1 September until Sunday 13 September. The centre management team will then select a shortlist before opening the public vote on its Facebook page shortly after the closing date.
